While the peak time of hurricane season has always been considered to be early August to late October, actual hurricane season in Florida is from June 1 to November 30. Even with peak season running through October, it’s fairly rare that a strong hurricane will make landfall in October and even more rare for November.

On Monday, Tropical Storm Chantal made its debut in the Atlantic Ocean but didn’t linger; it quickly moved out of the Atlantic Ocean by Monday night. As of Tuesday, it is expected to cross into the Caribbean and in the later part of the week, experts predict that Haiti and eastern Cuba will be hit by the storm as it makes its way west.
