Two Potential Tropical Storm Systems Spotted in the Atlantic

Hurricane season has already begun but the Atlantic has been clear up until today. Unfortunately, the peace and quiet calm my not last very long because according to The Weather Channel, two storm systems appeared in the Atlantic today.

While these systems are still in their infancy, they both have the potential to develop into something more. In fact, one storm system is a tropical wave that seems to be moving across the northeast Caribbean. As such, it appears as if the conditions are not right for the tropical wave to become a hurricane but the storm system will still be dangerous as it will bring thunderstorms and debris with it. Currently, the tropical wave is hovering over Puerto Rico but slowly moving along the rest of the Leeward Islands.

As you can see in the image, the “monsoon trough” behind the tropical wave seems to be showing some rotation. That means that this is the storm system to worry about because it has the potential to gain structure within its rotation. If both rotation and structure is achieved then this storm system could easily become a hurricane and thus a very serious threat. As of now, the conditions are right and the potential is there and this storm system would be far enough south that it would avoid any atmospheric conditions that could stunt hurricane formation. We advise to keep an eye on the weather and watch for any potential and sudden changes as this system is headed towards the Lesser Antilles and should arrive at the end of the week.

Though anything could happen with these two storm systems and it’s best to prepare your home anyway! Click here for a FREE estimate and to find out more about home hurricane protection and what you can do if these systems become a threat.
